Please see below for some important information for the first half of this term:
WEEK THREE
Thursday 16 May – Paid Union Meeting
The PPTA union has informed us that they will be holding a Paid Union Meeting on the afternoon of Thursday 16 May. This means school will be closed for instruction following Session 2 this Thursday (from 12.25 pm).
Please note that afterschool sport will still take place on this day. A study space will be provided for students that wish to remain onsite prior to their sports activity.
WEEKS FOUR AND FIVE
Common Assessment Tasks in Reading, Writing and Mathematics
All Year 11 students, and selected Year 10, 12 and 13 students will be sitting the national Common Assessment Tasks in Reading, Writing and Mathematics from Friday 24th of May to Thursday 30th May. Further information will be sent to these students and their families later this week with key information about when they will be sitting each assessment and the preparation that is needed.
WEEK FIVE
Friday 31 May – Teacher Only Day
Please note that there is no school onsite for all students on Friday of Week 5. This is a national Accord Day that all schools have during the year as specified by the Ministry of Education. Teachers will be spending this day onsite completing professional learning linked to the NZ curriculum and the NCEA.
STRIVE FOR 5
Your support with our raising attendance initiative “Strive for 5” is greatly appreciated as we aim for the highest possible levels of attendance and punctuality across our school community. As you may have seen in the media this is part of a nationwide campaign to ensure all students are at school and engaged in learning each and every day of the school year.
As mentioned previously, every day your child attends “5 out of 5” (Mentor, S1, S2, S3, S4) gains them an entry into the draw for great prizes. You can also check out your child’s attendance on any given day at any time via our school portal. Individual instructions for how to access this were sent to every parent earlier in the year but if you need these resent, please contact the school office. Check out our Facebook page for photos of our Student Leaders and Staff celebrating our first week in this initiative. I do hope to be able to share stories of how this is positively impacting on student attendance in future messages!
We really appreciate your support as wh膩nau in ensuring your child is here on time and ready to learn every day of the term.
